Why We're Different

At Chaucer Barn, we have two guiding principles that set us apart from the rest:

We want your wedding or event to be exactly what you want. We don't tie you in to our own caterers or suppliers - we provide the blank canvas with which you can create your perfect day. Tired of being told how to plan your own wedding, when to eat, what to drink, when to dance, when to go home? At Chaucer Barn, we do things differently. You have free rein to design, plan and style your wedding the way you want it. We differ from the standard one size fits all wedding - we fit in with you rather than the other way round - presenting you with a blank canvas on which to project your own style and personality.

Because no two weddings are ever the same here, we have a unique wealth of experience. You will therefore find our free-of-charge wedding service enormously helpful.

We encourage you to visit the barn as often as you like so that you can get a feel for what will be a blank canvas, you are most welcome to decorate both inside and outside to your own individual style. We try to do everything differently from the rest of the wedding industry in order that your special day is as unique and individual as you are.

Because you have exclusive privacy at Chaucer Barn you will have had up to 24 hours in which to relax with your house guests, sink your roots and take 'ownership' of the Barn. Therefore, when the majority of your friends and family arrive for the wedding day you will have already adopted Chaucer Barn as your home. When your guests arrive you are inviting them into your space - unlike the typical wedding venue where you arrive (and leave!) at the same time as your guests so that it is the venue essentially plays host.

We get out of your hair, allowing you to entertain your guests, no differently from how you would at home, only here you have acres and acres of beautiful, award winning space!

Catering at Chaucer Barn

At Chaucer Barn we can recommend a range of caterers to suit your requirements, or you're completely free to use your own. We do, however, highly recommend award winning Norfolk chef Andy Parle.

Andy has over 25 years of professional experience, working for esteemed establishments such as The Canteen (Michelin star restaurant), Pont de La Tour and recently as Head Chef for the Walpole Arms - one of Norfolk's leading gastro pubs and one of only 19 pubs in the UK to hold a Michelin Bid Gourmand.

Andy brings endless enthusiasm for food and service to all things catering. He relishes being surrounded by the best in game, livestock, seafood, dairy and garden produce Norfolk has to offer and this produce is where the emphasis of his cooking is centred.

Andy will work directly with you to produce quality bespoke menus for dinner parties, lunches, cocktail parties, and weddings. Alternatively let Andy take the stress out of your weekend by dropping off delicious home cooked meals all you need to do is pop them in the Aga! Please see the sample menus on the left.

To book Andy and discuss your own requirements please contact him directly at [email protected] or 01603 871413. To avoid disappointment do it well in advance.

If, for any reason, Andy is already booked, please contact us for other recommended caterers.
