Why did you choose Chaucer Barn for your Love Story?

We really didn't want a traditional wedding and wasn't sure what we wanted, but we knew we wanted a large outdoor space with trees and wild flowers. Chaucer Barn was the 1st venue we saw and we absolutely fell in love with it, so much so we almost booked it there and then. We looked at a couple of other venues but nothing compared to chaucer, which we then booked a couple of days later.

What was your first impression when you visited the venue?

We were blown away, we wanted somewhere that didn't feel like a traditional wedding venue and had lots of outside space, we loved that you could pick from so many different areas to get married and had discussed getting married in the woods, we didn't think that was possible, and then we saw Chaucer.

What made the venue stand out from others you considered?

We loved the outside space and the ability to hire the entire venue for the 4 days of the weekend. This meant we could properly celebrate and not have to worry about rushing away afterwards and being able to stay in that wedding bubble. We also loved the fact we could have whatever day we wanted and not be restricted by having to have the day a certain way.

How would you describe the atmosphere and feel of your wedding weekend?

Amazing!! We really have no words to sum up how perfect it was, all of our guests have repeatedly complimented the venue and the wedding weekend as a whole, everyone is still talking about it weeks later.

Which part of the venue or grounds did you love the most and why?

We loved the outdoor space, we really wanted a relaxed day where guests could roam around and the children could run around and play and no one was restricted to one area. It made the day feel super relaxed and made it even more enjoyable for us. 

Tell us about your experience with the events team throughout the planning process and wedding weekend.

I cannot express our gratitude towards bianca enough. She was so amazing! She always helped with the hundreds of questions I had leading up to the day, she was really informative at all points and over the weekend checked in with us as and when we needed. She helped so much with the set up on the morning and making sure everything was perfect and she was always so happy and made us feel like nothing we asked of her was too much. She really helped make our weekend exactly what we wanted. I also felt calmer having her direct us down the aisle, she really is an asset to Chaucer!

What was your favourite moment or memory from the weekend?

Its really hard to pick just one but for me (Emma) it would be getting ready the morning of the wedding and being able to see outside across the grounds and watching everything we had planned come to life, knowing I was shortly going to get married! It was such a surreal experience. For Sam it was also a hard choice but walking back towards the barn, newly married and seeing how everything had been set up for the 1st time and seeing how pretty it all was. 

Did having accommodation onsite change the experience for you and your guests?

Yes, massively. This was a huge part of what we were looking for as a lot of our family are spread out across the UK and trying to find a venue to accommodate everyone we thought would be tricky but Chaucer had it all, we also loved that all the accommodation was spread out so it still felt secluded and we still got to have our separate time as bride and groom.

What would you say to couples currently considering Chaucer Barn for their wedding?

Absolutely book Chaucer barn! It will be the best thing you ever do!! Chaucer was absolutely perfect for our day, i wish i knew more people planning to get married as i’ve been recommending it to everyone! 

If you had to describe your wedding weekend in three words, what would they be?

Perfect, unforgettable, whimsical
