Chaucer Barn is a year-round private venue equally perfect for intimate gatherings or larger wedding celebrations. Set within 20 acres of stunning natural gardens, rare wild flowers, woodland flora and fauna. The barn offers luxury accommodation for up to 18 guests, plus another 10-20 in our eco-lodges.

From our very first visit to look around the venue, to the day of our October wedding, the team at Chaucer were exceptional. The grounds speak for themselves, the house is absolutely beautiful inside and out, and the team went above and beyond to help make our day perfect.

The perfect venue! We got married in this stunning venue in March. This was the first and only venue we looked at. I fell in love with it straight away. The grounds are beautiful and the barn itself is perfect. Everything we needed and so much more.

We want your wedding or event to be exactly what YOU want. We don’t insist on our own caterers or suppliers, we provide the blank canvas with which you can create your perfect day.
Tired of being told how to plan your own wedding, when to eat, what to drink, when to dance, when to go home? At Chaucer Barn, we do things differently. You have free rein to design, plan and style your wedding the way you want it. We differ from the standard one size fits all wedding – we fit in with you rather than the other way round – presenting you with a blank canvas on which to project your own style and personality. Because no two weddings are ever the same here, we have a unique wealth of experience. You will therefore find our free-of-charge wedding service enormously helpful.
We encourage you to visit the barn as often as you like so that you can get a feel for what will be a blank canvas, you are most welcome to decorate both inside and outside to your own individual style. We try to do everything differently from the rest of the wedding industry in order that your special day is as unique and individual as you are.
Home from home
Move in ~ Chill Out ~ Celebrate
Because you have exclusive privacy at Chaucer Barn you will have all day in which to relax with your house guests, sink your roots and take ‘ownership’ of the Barn. Therefore, when the majority of your friends and family arrive for the wedding day you will have already adopted Chaucer Barn as your home. When your guests arrive you are inviting them into your space, unlike the typical wedding venue where you arrive (and leave!) at the same time as your guests so that it is the venue essentially plays host.
Think of it as your own private estate. We get out of your hair, allowing you to entertain your guests, no differently from how you would at home, only here you have acres and acres of beautiful, award winning space.

Pyramid Lawn
Formal yet contemporary
The Pyramid Lawn is a favourite amongst couples (and their photographers!).
Like something out of Alice in Wonderland, the forest of 33 random pyramids makes a surreal frame to the traditional English garden of the pyramid lawn. Completely unique in the gardening world, this breathtaking installation, gives a huge wow factor to your magical moment.

Hiding on the far side of our re-wilded valley, sits a magical woodland glade, tucked away at the bottom of a steep slope covered in trees and bluebells.
After processing through the long grass and wildflowers of the valley, you and your bridesmaids will enter through a tunnel of wisteria into a secret and secluded woodland grove. In the bosom of nature, surrounded by towering trees, you will say your vows in front of a living willow tunnel covered in climbing flowers.
Magic doesn't come any more natural than this!
Wild flower garden

You and your bridesmaids will process down ‘the aisle’ through a garden of wildflowers, towards your guests. Home to many species of wildflowers, including very rare Snakehead Fritillaries and wild orchids, your church is not of stone and wood but of nature itself. Finally, you will walk through a tunnel of living Willow to emerge on the lawn where your congregation awaits!
Your ceremony will take place on the Wildflower Lawn, which is itself part of our magical valley that was re-wilded many years ago and is home to many species of flora and fauna.
Picture Red Kites (an endangered species) and Buzzards circling lazily overhead as they search for pray hiding in the tall grass of the valley.
Stone circle
Ancient Magic
Long before churches, and even before Stonehenge, hundreds of stone circles across the British Isles, were places for sacred ceremonies, including marriages!
Our magical circle has crystals buried under each stone and a huge crystal of ‘Merlinite’ on the ‘Druid's Portal’, an inverted tree stump in the centre of the circle. Inspired by “Seahenge”, a neolithic, Druidic altar which emerged from the shifting sands of the north Norfolk coast 30 miles to the west.
Not just for marriages, our stone circle is favoured by guests seeking tranquility in nature. Over by the woods, at the far end of our re-wilded valley, it doubles as a peaceful sanctuary, far from the social scene of the Barn and formal gardens.
