We're so happy we were able to get married at Chaucer Barn, thank you again to all the team for allowing us to have the most magical day!
Why did you choose Chaucer Barn for your wedding?
We chose Chaucer Barn as we both love something a bit different, and that is something that Chaucer Barn definitely offers. The gardens gave us an Alice In Wonderland feel and we just loved all the different colours and decor throughout the house. When we came for the viewing, everything just felt very us, and we both instantly knew that we wanted to get married there!
What was your first impression when you visited the venue?
We were blown away by the stunning scenery, from the topiaries to the pagan circle and the woodland, it's just all so stunning! We also loved the little cosy areas in the house, like the sitting room upstairs and the cosy snug next to the kitchen.
What made the venue stand out from others you considered?
We loved that the venue is a blank canvas and allows you to chose your own suppliers and have your wedding exactly the way you want it. Also, having all the rooms makes a huge difference too, as its great being able to have friends and family stay. We loved that you get the venue for 3 nights so that you can have time to prepare before the big day without a mad morning rush and also feels like a mini weekend away. It was also amazing being able to have loved ones stay the night before, we have such treasured memories of us all sat around the table the night before the wedding, having a relaxed drink and chatting and getting excited about the next day.
How would you describe the atmosphere and feel of your wedding weekend?
We didn't want our wedding to be too formal, and Chaucer Barn makes that possible. We feel like our day was an intimate, relaxed day and flowed perfectly.
Which part of the venue or grounds did you love the most and why?
Probably the gardens with all the beautiful flowers and the triangle topiaries. It's just so quirky and fun and we're so happy that we could have our ceremony there 🙂 Although, the banqueting hall is equally beautiful, so we wouldn't have been sad at all if the weather hadn't allowed an outdoor ceremony.
Tell us about your experience with the events team throughout the planning process and wedding weekend.
The events team were absolutely amazing throughout the whole process. Bianca was so helpful and on the day, she put everyone at ease and made sure everything went smoothly, we cant thank her enough! We weren't sure until the morning if we would get married indoors or outdoors, and luckily the weather was good enough to be outdoors. Bianca made this transition so easy, so no one had any stress. She was also amazing in making sure our ceremony music was timed to perfection. We're so grateful! All the chairs and tables were all set up and moved with ease.
What was your favourite moment or memory from the weekend?
There's several little moments throughout the whole weekend that make us smile, so it really hard to just pick one: chatting with friends and family the night before, having the weather hold up so we could be married in the sunshine, having beautiful sunset photos in the garden!
Did having accommodation onsite change the experience for you and your guests?
It definitely did. It allowed us to spend even more time with our friends and family, and have time before and after the big day to just relax and enjoy each other's company.
What would you say to couples currently considering Chaucer Barn for their wedding?
100% book this venue! You won't regret it at all. It's the most stunning venue and you'll treasure the memories forever!
If you had to describe your wedding weekend in three words, what would they be?
Colourful, perfect and magical!
