We had our wedding at Chaucer Barn in May 2026, and we couldn't have been happier with our decision for a venue! The grounds are absolutely stunning and the day (+ whole weekend stay) went perfectly. Bianca was an amazing host and ensured everything was organised beautifully. The whole setting was a dream and would highly recommend the venue for anyone who wished to get married there. We had the best time!

We recently got married at Chaucer Barn and honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. The woodland setting provided the most beautiful backdrop for our ceremony. The grounds are immaculate and gave us endless opportunities for amazing photographs. So many of our guests commented on how beautiful and unique the venue was.

In the build up, we had many visits and calls to be able to ask questions and make sure we had thought of everything. Our guests had the most amazing weekend staying in the lodges and barn. We want your wedding or event to be exactly what YOU want. We don’t insist on our own caterers or suppliers, we provide the blank canvas with which you can create your perfect day.
Tired of being told how to plan your own wedding, when to eat, what to drink, when to dance, when to go home? At Chaucer Barn, we do things differently. You have free rein to design, plan and style your wedding the way you want it. We differ from the standard one size fits all wedding – we fit in with you rather than the other way round – presenting you with a blank canvas on which to project your own style and personality. Because no two weddings are ever the same here, we have a unique wealth of experience. You will therefore find our free-of-charge wedding service enormously helpful.
We encourage you to visit the barn as often as you like so that you can get a feel for what will be a blank canvas, you are most welcome to decorate both inside and outside to your own individual style. We try to do everything differently from the rest of the wedding industry in order that your special day is as unique and individual as you are.

Move in ~ Chill Out ~ Celebrate
Because you have exclusive privacy at Chaucer Barn you will have all day in which to relax with your house guests, sink your roots and take ‘ownership’ of the Barn. Therefore, when the majority of your friends and family arrive for the wedding day you will have already adopted Chaucer Barn as your home. When your guests arrive you are inviting them into your space, unlike the typical wedding venue where you arrive (and leave!) at the same time as your guests so that it is the venue essentially plays host.
Think of it as your own private estate. We get out of your hair, allowing you to entertain your guests, no differently from how you would at home, only here you have acres and acres of beautiful, award winning space.

Pyramid Lawn
Formal yet contemporary
The Pyramid Lawn is a favourite amongst couples (and their photographers!).
Like something out of Alice in Wonderland, the forest of 33 random pyramids makes a surreal frame to the traditional English garden of the pyramid lawn. Completely unique in the gardening world, this breathtaking installation, gives a huge wow factor to your magical moment.

Hiding on the far side of our re-wilded valley, sits a magical woodland glade, tucked away at the bottom of a steep slope covered in trees and bluebells.
After processing through the long grass and wildflowers of the valley, you and your bridesmaids will enter through a tunnel of wisteria into a secret and secluded woodland grove. In the bosom of nature, surrounded by towering trees, you will say your vows in front of a living willow tunnel covered in climbing flowers.
Magic doesn't come any more natural than this!

You and your bridesmaids will process down ‘the aisle’ through a garden of wildflowers, towards your guests. Home to many species of wildflowers, including very rare Snakehead Fritillaries and wild orchids, your church is not of stone and wood but of nature itself. Finally, you will walk through a tunnel of living Willow to emerge on the lawn where your congregation awaits!
Your ceremony will take place on the Wildflower Lawn, which is itself part of our magical valley that was re-wilded many years ago and is home to many species of flora and fauna.
Picture Red Kites (an endangered species) and Buzzards circling lazily overhead as they search for pray hiding in the tall grass of the valley.
Stone circle
Ancient Magic
Long before churches, and even before Stonehenge, hundreds of stone circles across the British Isles, were places for sacred ceremonies, including marriages!
Our magical circle has crystals buried under each stone and a huge crystal of ‘Merlinite’ on the ‘Druid's Portal’, an inverted tree stump in the centre of the circle. Inspired by “Seahenge”, a neolithic, Druidic altar which emerged from the shifting sands of the north Norfolk coast 30 miles to the west.
Not just for marriages, our stone circle is favoured by guests seeking tranquility in nature. Over by the woods, at the far end of our re-wilded valley, it doubles as a peaceful sanctuary, far from the social scene of the Barn and formal gardens.
FAQ's
• What is the capacity of Chaucer Barn?
Chaucer Barn sleeps up to 18 guests across 9 luxurious bedrooms, making it perfect for large family gatherings, retreats, or celebratory weekends. We can however add 5 more zed beds if need be. Added to this we have five eco-lodges in the woods, near the Barn, which will accommodate another 10 to 20 guests. Total guest number therefore comes to 30 to 40 guests.
• Is Chaucer Barn pet-friendly?
Yes, we are a dog-friendly venue. We welcome well-behaved dogs to join your stay. We have in the past had owl ring bearers, alpacas, rabbits and ponies, so we can absolutely accommodate your beloved furry friends.
• What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in 2:00pm on your arrival day, and check-out is 10am on the day of departure.
• Is Chaucer Barn licensed for wedding ceremonies?
Yes, Chaucer Barn is a licensed wedding venue, offering a beautiful, intimate setting for civil ceremonies both indoors and within our stunning gardens and grounds.
• Can we bring our own suppliers for a wedding or event?
Yes, we like to think Chaucer Barn is relatively unique amongst wedding venues in that you are allowed to bring your own suppliers.
• What is the maximum capacity for a wedding at Chaucer Barn?
Our venue is best suited for an intimate to mid-sized weddings. For weddings situated inside the Barn the maximum is 100, however we have a variety of alternative options through our suppliers for up to 140. Please reach out to us with your expected guest count, and we can advise on the best layout options for your special day.
• Where is Chaucer Barn located?
We are situated in the heart of the beautiful North Norfolk countryside, near the village of Gresham, just 3 miles from the seaside town of Sheringham.
• What facilities are included in a stay?
Guests enjoy exclusive use of the barn and award-winning gardens. Beyond the gardens is a magical re-wilded valley, 20 acres in all.
