You can often find yourself with so many names and you don't know where to start. We are here to help you find your ideal wedding suppliers. Firstly, have we given you Chaucer Barn's list of carefully chosen wedding suppliers? If you have booked your wedding with us we should have shared our list of recommended suppliers and if we haven't please do get in touch with us and we will do so. This is a list created based on our previous couples experience of suppliers. These are suppliers that know the venue well and have provided an excellent service to our couples in the past. There are various different styles and types of suppliers on there so do give it a look. Work out how much of your budget you have for each supplier category. Every couple is different and every couple wants to focus on different aspects of their wedding and spend more on each. What is best to do is take your budget and work out how much you want to spend on each element. This will help you with working out which suppliers to contact and which not to, if they give their prices online. If their pricing isn't given online then you will have to reach out to them for a quote. Where are the suppliers based. Another thing to consider when short listing your suppliers is, how far away are they from your venue. For example, will the supplier you are looking at travel the distance from London to Chaucer Barn in the North of Norfolk and if they are willing to travel will this increase the cost (i.e. will you need to cover travel costs and overnight costs) or are they local and their travel is included in the price? Going local also means that they are more likely to have worked at your venue before (we love our local Norfolk suppliers) and are better able to advise you if your plans will work or not. Are they able to provide you with what you are looking for? Not every supplier is able to provide you with the specific service you are looking for. As an example some florists are specialists in dry flower arrangements and are therefore not equipped to do fresh flower arrangements and visa versa. This is not always the case  however and some suppliers are very versatile. These are some of the things you might need to ask the suppliers you are looking at. Or it might be mentioned on their website.   Image Credits: Photographer: Hannah Brodie Photography Catering: Country Box Catering

Top Tips On Planning Your Winter Wedding

[caption id="attachment_11836" align="aligncenter" width="533"] Photographer Credit: Sophie Cass Photography[/caption] Thinking about planning your ideal winter wedding? Look no further than our top tips on planning your winter wedding. Winter can be an absolutely stunning time of year to get married as you can create cozy and spectacular winter weddings with gorgeous intimate settings such as Chaucer Barn. Here are our top tips to help you plan your wedding. Think about the season and how it inspires you. Winter can be very festive, very magical and has plenty of inspiration. Think about what makes winter special to you, is it the concept of snow and things being snowy or is it that you can become cozy, snuggle up with some special hot chocolate, wood fires, festive drinks etc or is it the concept of Christmas that appeals to you. These are different aspects that can inspire you for the style of winter wedding you are looking for. How many guests are you looking to invite. The number of guests that you choose to invite will influence the style of wedding you go for. The intimacy of your wedding will differentiations depending on the number of guests you are looking to invite. Winter can be a great time of the year to do those intimate small weddings where you can gather your close family and friends for a wonderful wedding weekend where you can all gather around the fire on the Sunday evening as many of the Chaucer Barn winter wedding couples do choose to do. Think about what the venue already offers you in terms of decor etc. As an example, Chaucer Barn has a few fire places in the barn as well as in the lodges which create that very special winter atmosphere as well as making it very cozy. The barn also is designed with family style weddings in mind which means that you are all able to stay onsite and have those fun family Sunday moments. Our spectacular Banqueting Hall is ideal for those family moments where you can all gather around the dining table and enjoy your special time together. What types of decor can lend themselves to creating the type of mood that you are looking for. Think about small details such as candles that can create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Other things that can be added that are always worth thinking about are cozy blankets which guests can put over their laps. Also think about s'more kits which are great for guests to gather around any fires! Other options are Mystic Fire Sachets which can create different colour flames. Have a Hot Mulled Wine or Mulled Cider station for guests to help them selves to and they can add their own garnishes. Think about the times of your day carefully. As this is winter in the UK time is short. Think about the light and what photographs you can get whilst it is still light and what time you are planning on having your ceremony. The light starts going at around 16:30 in early November and around 16:00 by the end of November. If you are planning your ceremony and what time this should be, keep this in mind. You want enough time to have your ceremony, and to have some golden hour images if possible and not too chilly. Think about where you are planning on having your ceremony. Chaucer Barn has an ideal indoor ceremony space that is ideal for intimate winter weddings.   Image Credits: Sophie Cass Photography Planning & Styling; Ava Weddings Florist: Myrtle and the Bee Videographer: Mike Reid Films Make Up: Michelle Bennett Make-up Artist Hair: Emily Pointer Bridal Dress: Camilla Brides Props: Belles & Beaus Wedding Styling Lighting: Quirk Events Stationery: Emily & Jo Hire: Anglia Elite
