Look no further than our top tips on planning your winter wedding. Winter can be an absolutely stunning time of year to get married as you can create cozy and spectacular winter weddings with gorgeous intimate settings such as Chaucer Barn. Here are our top tips to help you plan your wedding. Think about the season and how it inspires you. Winter can be very festive, very magical and has plenty of inspiration. Think about what makes winter special to you, is it the concept of snow and things being snowy or is it that you can become cozy, snuggle up with some special hot chocolate, wood fires, festive drinks etc or is it the concept of Christmas that appeals to you. These are different aspects that can inspire you for the style of winter wedding you are looking for. How many guests are you looking to invite. The number of guests that you choose to invite will influence the style of wedding you go for. The intimacy of your wedding will differentiations depending on the number of guests you are looking to invite. Winter can be a great time of the year to do those intimate small weddings where you can gather your close family and friends for a wonderful wedding weekend where you can all gather around the fire on the Sunday evening as many of the Chaucer Barn winter wedding couples do choose to do. Think about what the venue already offers you in terms of decor etc. As an example, Chaucer Barn has a few fire places in the barn as well as in the lodges which create that very special winter atmosphere as well as making it very cozy. The barn also is designed with family style weddings in mind which means that you are all able to stay onsite and have those fun family Sunday moments. Our spectacular Banqueting Hall is ideal for those family moments where you can all gather around the dining table and enjoy your special time together. What types of decor can lend themselves to creating the type of mood that you are looking for. Think about small details such as candles that can create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Other things that can be added that are always worth thinking about are cozy blankets which guests can put over their laps. Also think about s'more kits which are great for guests to gather around any fires! Other options are Mystic Fire Sachets which can create different colour flames. Have a Hot Mulled Wine or Mulled Cider station for guests to help them selves to and they can add their own garnishes. Think about the times of your day carefully. As this is winter in the UK time is short. Think about the light and what photographs you can get whilst it is still light and what time you are planning on having your ceremony. The light starts going at around 16:30 in early November and around 16:00 by the end of November. If you are planning your ceremony and what time this should be, keep this in mind. You want enough time to have your ceremony, and to have some golden hour images if possible and not too chilly. Think about where you are planning on having your ceremony. Chaucer Barn has an ideal indoor ceremony space that is ideal for intimate winter weddings.   Image Credits: Sophie Cass Photography Planning & Styling; Ava Weddings Florist: Myrtle and the Bee Videographer: Mike Reid Films Make Up: Michelle Bennett Make-up Artist Hair: Emily Pointer Bridal Dress: Camilla Brides Props: Belles & Beaus Wedding Styling Lighting: Quirk Events Stationery: Emily & Jo Hire: Anglia Elite

Chaucer Barn has designed and built 5 cutting edge, self-contained eco lodges hidden in the woods. They are exquisitely crafted and luxurious and can accommodate up to 4 guests each. Crucially, you can find them only a short walk from the Barn, on the edge of the parkland. There are two large lodges and three smaller lodges. They feature all the comforts of home in an awe-inspiring location.

Unlike so many wedding venues, we don’t demand where you have your ceremony (assuming you do want to tie the knot outside!) As part of our policy of giving you the reins to create your own wedding, we get you to choose where you want your ceremony. It could, for example, be on one of our lawns or in one of the tree circles, or by the wild flower meadow, or at either end of the oak avenue, or at the steps in front of the pyramids, or IN the pyramids for that matter! Or you could go for a woodland wedding, which are very popular. Then again, if you wanted to be nearer home you could be in the Sunken Terrace, or at the living willow seat, or way over at the summer house with its amazing view over much of Norfolk. Then there’s the pergola, of course.… we could go on but you get the picture! Within our twenty acres of garden and grounds there is no shortage of choice and the choice is very much yours, not ours.
